In this class, you'll be looking at primary and secondary sources.
A primary source is something (a photograph, diary, newsletter, etc.) created at the time of an event. For example, a photograph taken at the March on Washington would be a primary source. Primary sources also include accounts written after the fact (such as a memoir) by people that participated in a certain event. In short, primary sources can be thought of as "eye witness accounts."
A secondary source is a summary of an event written or complied later and by people not immediately involved.
