FAQ: Library Account

Q. I found out I have a bunch of fines! What do I do?

Log in to your library account to see what is overdue and then turn in all overdue items as soon possible. If the amount seems really high, We often charge replacement costs but remove those costs as soon as you return those items.

Call (406) 243-4071 to speak with a circulation supervisor if you have further questions about your account.

Q. Can I renew something I checked out?

Many items you can renew yourself by logging into your OneSearch library account.

If you can't renew the item(s) yourself, call (406) 243-4071 or bring the item(s) to the Check Out Desk to see if it is possible.

Q. I am a UM alum, can I still use the library?

If you continue to be a Montana resident, you can sign up for a Montana Borrower account which allows you to check out physical items (for example, books, DVDs, CDs, headphones) from the library. Bring a photo ID and proof of Montana residence to the Check Out Desk at Mansfield Library to set up a Montana Borrower account.

Alumni do not have access to databases, journals, or other online resources. An active NetID is needed to access those. However, alumni can use to public computers in the library that have access to all online resources.

Q. I forgot my library account password!

If you are a UM faculty, staff, student, or researcher, your library account and password is your NetID and password. If you forget your library account password then you have to reset your NetID password.
